my electronic scale is retarted?

i weight less with clothes on, and at the gym's scale i am 6 lbs more

Are your clothes by any chance made out of helium?

If not, then you might be stepping on the scale differently each time (i.e. more on the edges than in the center sometimes) or you might just have a super craptastic scale. If you bought your scale at Wal-Mart or if it came with a free toaster or if you ever spilled Elmer's glue on it or if you're not letting it properly tare or if you're morbidly obese and have exceeded the scale's capacity, you might consider getting a new scale.

Also, never forget the impact of urination and/or water retention. Water and urine weight over eight pounds per gallon. It doesn't take much retention (like from eating salty foods) to make several pounds appear out of the blue. Likewise, using the bathroom can cause the loss of pounds.

Finally, there's the issue of scale calibration. Scales need to be calibrated and if they aren't (or haven't been lately) there can be several pounds difference between two supposedly reliable scales.

The bottom line is don't worry so much about what the scales say. Pay more attention to how your clothes fit and how you feel. Like the sign at my gym says, "If you look in a mirror and see what's right instead of what's wrong, that's the sign of a healthy mind."
